Thoracic Back Pain Symptoms May Be Treatable at Laser Spine Institute

Thoracic Back Pain Symptoms May Be Treatable at Laser Spine Institute

Thoracic back pain is often the result of muscle strain which can heal over time with conservative treatments and rest. However, in some cases it can be caused by problems with the way the ribs attach to the spine, or spinal canal conditions such as degenerative disc disease, stenosis, arthritis or another ailment. These types of conditions can require more aggressive treatment including chiropractic care and spinal steroid injections. In some cases, relief from thoracic back pain that is caused by these conditions can require surgery. For patients in this situation, Laser Spine Institute (LSI) offers a safe and effective alternative to traditional back surgery.

Here’s how the two stack up:

  • Hospitalization. All of our procedures take place in an outpatient surgical center while traditional surgeries require hospitalization.
  • Anesthesia. We use only local anesthesia and deep IV sedation while traditional surgery requires general anesthesia.
  • Incisions. The incision we use is only about one centimeter long, while traditional surgeries require a cut that is several inches and bisects muscle.
  • Infection. Because our procedures don’t take place in a hospital and the incision is so small, infection is very uncommon. Infections are much more common following traditional surgery.

Our procedures often come with a quicker recovery as well, and they are highly effective. More than 85% of our patients report an increased quality of life within three months of their procedure, and some even report relief the same day.

If you’d like more information about our thoracic back pain treatments, contact LSI today. We’ll review your CT scan or MRI for free to determine if we can help.
